I’m Jon. I’m a 35 year old unemployed slacker that likes walking outside (and its fancy cousin, hiking).

Here you’ll see my quest to find–and walk–the worst hike in the world.
What makes a hike bad, exactly? I think that depends on what you think makes a hike good.
I’ve found that most people like a good walk for the scenery. Most people like walking for the quiet and peace. Most people like seeing nature and escaping the city. Ideally, you get all of this.
I found a hike that has none of that: I call it the “Arrowhead to Pueblo” section of the Old Spanish Trail, through Southern California, from San Bernardino to Los Angeles.
Yes, the Los Angeles famous for its freeways, cars, and movies about cars (and one famous bus) on its freeways.
I feel I’m allowed to name this section because the trail has been lost underneath the city and its concrete, and even the National Park Service isn’t quite sure where it is.
They do know that after travelling from Santa Fe, like traders and settlers and their mules, this part of the trail would have been an easy two or three days walk. I decided to give myself four.
What will my “hike” be like? I’m not sure, but I am sure that it will not be like what it was, when California was Alta California.
